ABOUT

I was inspired to start creating journals in June 2021 after over 25 years of filling up hundreds of journals with everything from school girl crushes and song lyrics to personal goals and business ideas.

Lula was my 3x great-grand aunt.  A widow by 28, Lula lost touch with the family around 1908 when they left Georgia for California.

The 1910 census reveals that Lula knew how to read and write, notable since around the time of Lula’s birth in the early 1880s, 76% of southern blacks (age 10 and over) were illiterate, a rate 55 percentage points greater than that for southern whites.

I named this venture after her because her baby sister, Addie, who I grew up knowing, would have loved that. And I imagine Aunt Lula would be tickled to see a brown girl on the cover of a book made for expressing thoughts through writing.

In case you’re new to journaling or in need of a reminder, here are several benefits:

Stretching your emotional intelligence and IQ

Tracking and achieving goals

Improving communication skills & sparking creativity

Building self-confidence and evoking mindfulness

Healing – emotionally, physically and psychologically (Source: https://bit.ly/huffpostjournal)
